Choosing a Recycler
Caution should be taken when selecting a legitimate electronics recycler
to avoid penalties for improper disposal.
Typically, remarketers, and liquidators focus only on the resalable products. Little or no attention
is paid to the proper enviromental disposal of electronic waste.
Recyclers who promote fee-based services provide a variety of comprehensive programs.
The include providing compliance forms and recycling certificates to meet government enviromental guidelines. A majority of
the equipment is de-manufactured with the metals, glass and plastics sorted, separated, and categorized. Circuit boards
are smelted and iron, copper, aluminum, cabling and wiring are processed for specific markets. Some recyclers provide offsets
against disposal costs for non-obsolete equipment that has resale value. All proccesses of the total end of life management,
including packaging, logistics and transportation are handled and managed professionally. The credential and references
of the recycler should be verified.
